Popular community event continues to bring Nantwich together
By Jonathan White 17th Aug 2026
Runners, walkers, wheelers and families came together at Barony Park in Nantwich on Saturday 15 August for the latest Dabbers Dash.
The free monthly gathering once again attracted a strong turnout, underlining its growing popularity as a fixture on the local community calendar.
Participants of all ages and abilities were invited to complete up to three-and-a-half laps of Barony Park, approximately 5km, or simply enjoy a shorter walk, jog or wheel around the scenic green space.
Pride flags greeted participants at both the start and finish areas, reflecting Dabbers Dash's ongoing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
With no official timing, the emphasis was firmly on participation rather than competition, creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone could take part at their own pace.
August's event focused on supporting the wellbeing of young people receiving exam results or preparing to take their next steps into further education, training or employment.
Resources from Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide were distributed to help people support young people in their lives.
Papyrus is a UK charity dedicated to preventing suicide and promoting positive mental health among young people aged 35 and under.

Dabbers Dash founder, Paul McIntyre, said: "These Papyrus resources are not only for results day or moments of crisis, they can help begin positive conversations about mental wellbeing before difficulties become overwhelming.
"Please remember to ask your young people how they are feeling, and perhaps ask how their friends and peers are doing too.
"It is a simple, caring question that could help someone receive support when they really need it."
"We were honoured new Nantwich Town Mayor, Kim Jamson, started the Dash.
"We are all reminded to consider the wellbeing of teachers, lecturers and other academic staff too, particularly following the tragic news about Professor Jason Arday.
"Thank you, Kim, for helping us broaden that important message and ensure people are not overlooked.
"A huge thank you also goes to Kim and Deb at Nantwich hub the barony, who have agreed to continue making the Papyrus materials available long after today's Dash.
"They both have enormous hearts and probably encounter more people needing a friendly ear than many of us realise. The hub is one of the most accessible places on the Barony to pause, chat and take a little time out."
Paul also praised photographer Sam Lee for capturing the morning and thanked the Nantwich community for its continued support.
He said: "Most importantly, thank you to the people of Nantwich for continuing to make Dabbers Dash what it is.
"We have recently been shortlisted for an England Athletics award, and it is a privilege to be recognised alongside some fantastic clubs and community groups.
"It is a testament to what we all create together while enjoying where we live in a healthy, welcoming and supportive way.
"If Nantwich were Hogwarts, Dabbers Dash would be our room of requirement, a place where, whenever somebody needs support, an army of kind people seems to appear.
"Let's keep looking out for our young people, and for one another. No result, qualification or job outcome defines anybody's worth, and there is always another path forward."
Dabbers Dash was launched in 2022 as a virtual alternative to Parkrun and has since grown into a popular monthly fixture, encouraging active lifestyles while also campaigning for improved pathways around Barony Park.
