A major road in Nantwich is set to close from Thursday 20 August during the day for a week, allowing micro resurfacing works to take place.

London Road, between Elwood Way and Second Dig Lane, will close from 8am and 4pm, until Thursday 27 August.

During the dryer months, Cheshire East Highways starts its micro surfacing programme across the borough.

Workers apply a thin layer of bituminous material and aggregate to the surface of the road, taking around two hours to harden.

While the laying process is quick, it is weather-dependent, and rain can cause delays.

It's normal for a newly micro surfaced road to appear slightly uneven at first, and ironworks such as gullies and manhole covers may seem lower than the surrounding surface.

This is expected and does not affect their function.

In the weeks following the treatment being applied, traffic and weather help the surface settle and smooth out, resulting in a more uniform and durable finish.
