Former Guillemots frontman, Fyfe Dangerfield, is returning to Nantwich this summer, a year after a small-town gig helped bring him back to live performance after 15 years away from regular touring.

Dangerfield will play at The Granary Arts Cafe on Saturday 6 June for promoters Moth Events, whose Independent Venue Week charity show in early 2025 proved a turning point for the Mercury Prize-nominated musician.

"Playing at The Granary Arts Cafe in Nantwich turned out to be just the right and welcomed nudge for me to hop back into the heart-opening world of playing my songs live again," said Dangerfield.

The singer-songwriter, best known as founder of Guillemots, had largely stepped away from regular live shows after releasing his solo album "Fly Yellow Moon" in 2010.

Before that, Guillemots' 2006 debut Through the Windowpane earned a Mercury Prize nomination and included tracks such as "Made-Up Lovesong #43" and "Trains to Brazil".

While continuing to write and record extensively over the past decade, Dangerfield admits performing gradually slipped further down his priorities.

He said: "I guess it's been very easy for me to disappear into writing and recording and dreaming up big creative dreams.

"I adore playing live. As soon as I'm onstage I feel right at home.

"But, the longer you get out of the habit, the harder it can be to get back into it."

Moth Events promoter, Tim Dougill, spent almost a year persuading Dangerfield to play Nantwich.

Since that show, the pair have collaborated on dates across the UK including Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Brighton and Glasgow.

Dangerfield's return show will feature the informal format he has adopted for recent performances, with no fixed setlist and audience requests encouraged.

"My aspiration for these shows is that they're more like a hangout than a concert," he added.

The Nantwich event will also raise money for North Staffs & Cheshire Mind. Since launching, Moth Events has raised more than £19,100 for Mind charities.
