UK retailer commits to Nantwich with 'careful' new shop refurbishment
By Ryan Parker 9th Feb 2026
A major UK clothing retailer has committed to Nantwich, by submitting plans to repair and decorate its existing town centre shopfront.
FatFace, 48, High Street, has put forward proposals to carry out a "careful" refurbishment to the Grade II listed premises, dating back to the early 19th century.
Located at the former Ye Olde Vaults Inn, FatFace wants to install new fascia signage, along with completing minor joinery repairs to the existing traditional timber shopfront.
With over 180 stores across the UK, FatFace sells outdoor casual wear for women, men and children, along with accessories.
Operating in Nantwich since June 2012, FatFace also has branches in nearby Chester and Macclesfield.

A design and access statement on behalf of FatFace, reads: "The Box Design team have been appointed by FatFace Ltd to develop proposals for the repair and redecoration of the existing shopfront.
"The works include the careful refurbishment and repainting of existing timber elements in a refreshed colour palette that reflects the current FatFace brand guidelines, alongside the installation of new signage.
"Minor internal decorative works are also proposed, with no material changes to the layout.
"The Box Design team have visited the site to undertake a detailed assessment of the existing shopfront and surrounding context, supported by photographic records.
"This process has informed the design development, ensuring the proposals respond sensitively to the historic nature of the building and the conservation area setting.
"The existing shopfront will be retained in its current form, with no structural alterations proposed.
"New signage will be positioned in line with the existing signage locations, ensuring minimal visual impact and maintaining the established rhythm and character of the street.
"Accessibility and sustainability have been central considerations throughout the design process.
"The proposals retain the existing access arrangements and follow a 'repair rather than replace' approach wherever possible, reducing waste and minimising environmental impact while prolonging the life of original building features."
The last date for submitting comments on this application is Monday 23 February, with a target decision date of Wednesday 4 March.
