A site manager at a Nantwich development has been recognised with a top national award for the quality of the homes he is building.

Dave Flavell, who leads construction at Maylands Park for David Wilson Homes, has won a prestigious Pride in the Job award from the National House Building Council (NHBC), widely regarded as the 'Oscars' of the housebuilding industry.

This marks Dave's first Pride in the Job win, a milestone achievement following a 30-year career in the housebuilding industry.

Dave, who lives in Winsford with his wife and young son, said: "I'm incredibly proud to win this award. It's the first time I've won and I've been on cloud nine.

"The morning I got the email, my heart was fluttering and when I read it my head was spinning. I just stood there looking at my phone for a few minutes, thinking about everyone I wanted to call.

"It's been a lifetime ambition. It really is the Oscars of the homebuilding industry. I remember working as a labourer years ago, seeing a site manager win one of these, and that's when I knew it was something I wanted to achieve one day."

Dave began his career as a plasterer before joining David Wilson Homes 12 years ago as a forklift truck driver.

The Nantwich worker has progressed through a variety of roles, becoming an assistant site manager in 2020 before being promoted to site manager three years ago.

Throughout his career, Dave has managed several developments across Cheshire, including Kingsbourne, Kings Park in Macclesfield, and now Maylands Park in Nantwich.

He added: "Nantwich is a great place to work and we've got a really great set of people on site. This award is absolutely a team effort.

"I've already told them to buckle up their safety belts as we're going to win more awards here. That's the plan anyway."

The awards celebrate the very best site managers across the UK, following thousands of rigorous inspections.

Judging is conducted across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

The Pride in the Job awards also play a crucial role in raising standards across the housebuilding industry, showcasing the importance of site managers in delivering homes on time, on safe sites, and to the highest standards.

Managing director for David Wilson Homes North West, Claire Jarvis, said: "These awards demonstrate our long-term commitment to looking after our customers and building high quality homes.

"They also showcase what it takes to be a top site manager, recognising the hard work from the entire team, including suppliers and contractors.

"Anyone who buys a home from a site with a Pride in the Job award winner knows their home has been built to the highest standard."

Maylands Park is surrounded by green open space, with easy access to local amenities, schools and transport links. Current availability includes three, four and five-bedroom homes, priced from £310,000.
