Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled a fire involving two homes in Wrenbury at the weekend.

Fire engines from Nantwich, Crewe, Chester, Winsford, Northwich and Middlewich were called to the scene on Saturday (18 July) plus the aerial ladder platform from the Incident Command Unit in Chester.

Help was also required from Shropshire and Staffordshire fire and rescue services.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews were initially called to deal with reports of a shed well alight behind two semi-detached houses.

"It is believed the shed contained gas canisters and despite the efforts of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using hose reel water jets to contain it, the fire spread to the first floor of one of the houses and then into the adjoining property."

This led to more fire engines and resources being mobilised and crews working through the early hours of the morning to tackle fire.

There were no casualties and people in neighbouring properties were evacuated while firefighters dealt with the incident.
