Huge £25m investment to transform Nantwich creamery
By Ryan Parker 5th Jul 2026
Family-run dairy business, Heler Foods, has announced a £25m investment in its Nantwich cheesemaking operations.
Based at Laurels Farm, Crewe Road, Heler Foods says the upgrade will significantly boost production and modernise the site with new high-speed pasteurisers, eight cheese vats and a new cheddar belt system.
Once complete, the creamery's annual output will rise to 38,000 tonnes.
The Nantwich company will also work with Tetra Pak to introduce its Factory OS platform, which uses live production data and AI-driven controls across the cheesemaking process.
George Heler said: "This investment underlines our long term commitment to British cheesemaking.
"As a family business now in its third generation, we have always believed in reinvesting back into the future of the company and continuing to push forwards.
"This latest investment is another major step in that journey.
"We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Tetra Pak on what will become one of the most advanced and technologically sophisticated cheese plants in Europe."
He added growing demand for high-protein products, including the firm's Eatlean Protein range, made improved process control essential.
The new Nantwich system is expected to be commissioned in January 2028.
