A Nantwich record shop's intimate gigs with singer-songwriter Jake Bugg sold out within hours of tickets going on sale.

Applestump Records, Oak Market, announced the special in-store performance and signing earlier this week, with tickets released at 10am on Wednesday 24 September.

The first event, taking place from 12pm on Thursday 12 November, will see Bugg perform a special matinee show at the Nantwich independent record shop before taking part in a signing.

Tickets completely sold out, with fans rushing to secure a place at the intimate event.

Due to the demand, Applestump Records arranged an additional show at 2pm, which has also sold out.

The gigs have been organised to celebrate the release of Bugg's seventh studio album, Alamo.

The new record is produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jimmy Hogarth and has been described as Bugg's most personal and heartfelt album to date.

Applestump Records shared the news on social media, saying it was "delighted" to announce that Bugg would be joining the store for the special event.

The Nottingham-born singer first rose to prominence as a teenager with his self-titled debut album in 2012.

It reached number one in the UK Albums Chart and featured tracks including Lightning Bolt, Two Fingers and Taste It.

Bugg has since released six further albums, building a career spanning more than a decade.

His latest record, Alamo, marks another chapter for the singer as he approaches his 30s.

The Nantwich appearance will give fans the chance to see the artist perform in a much smaller setting than his usual concerts, as well as meet him during the signing.

Applestump Records has previously hosted a number of live performances and special events, helping bring established artists and emerging musicians to Nantwich.
