A person rescued by emergency services after falling into Nantwich's River Weaver just before midnight over the weekend.

On Friday 25 September, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to an incident on Welsh Row, Nantwich.

At 11.50pm, one fire engine and the rapid response rescue unit from Nantwich arrived at the scene, with support from Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service.

On arrival, emergency services discovered a person had fallen into the River Weaver below Nantwich Bridge.

The casualty held a throw line deployed by police, with firefighters lowering a ladder to reach them, safely bringing them back up to the bridge.

No major injuries were reported, with the person expected to make a full recovery.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended an incident after a person is believed to have fallen into the River Weaver below Nantwich Bridge on Welsh Row.

"On arrival, firefighters found the casualty holding a throw line deployed by police.

"Crews lowered a ladder to reach the casualty and safely brought them back up to the bridge, where they were assessed by paramedics."
