By Ryan Parker 1st Jul 2026
Cheshire firefighters rescued an injured swan stranded on the mud flats at Nantwich Lake over the weekend.
On Sunday 28 June, animal rescue teams were called after reports that the swan, which had an injured wing, was unable to free itself.
Around 2pm, crews wearing wading suits used inflatable pathways to reach the bird safely before bringing it back to shore.
The swan was then handed into the care of the Nantwich's RSPCA's Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre for treatment.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the rescue was carried out by specialist animal rescue teams from Knutsford and Bollington fire stations.
