Costa Coffee is set to open a new outlet inside Sainsbury's supermarket in Nantwich this winter.

The store, based at the Middlewich Road site, is due to open by the end of February and will replace the supermarket's former in-store café, which closed in April 2025.

The Nantwich opening is part of a wider expansion that will see up to 30 Costa Coffee outlets open inside Sainsbury's supermarkets across the UK in 2026, following a collaboration announced in 2024.

Sainsbury's closed its Nantwich café last year as part of a major overhaul, which saw 61 cafés shut nationwide and around 3,000 jobs cut.

Costa Coffee already operates a store in Nantwich town centre and is understood to have invested more than £3 million in opening around 30 Sainsbury's locations.

So far this year, Costa has opened four outlets inside Sainsbury's stores, with further openings in Swindon Bridgemead, Newport, Durham and Nantwich due in February.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson has said: "We're excited to continue expanding Costa Coffee's presence across the UK, bringing more welcoming cafe spaces into Sainsbury's supermarkets for shoppers to relax, unwind, and enjoy a great cup of coffee."
