24th May 2024 | General Election 2024
Cllr Brian Silvester has announced he is standing as the 'Putting Crewe & Nantwich First' candidate in the 2024 General Election on Thursday 4 July.
The Woolstanwood parish councillor, who lives in Crewe, believes the Conservatives and Labour have betrayed the people of Crewe and Nantwich.
Cllr Silvester said: "The Tories have been in Government for 14 years. Labour have led Cheshire East Council since 2019.
"Labour have also ruled over Crewe Town Council since it was established in 2013.
"Both Labour councillors, which includes the Labour parliamentary candidate, and the Tory MP, have betrayed the residents of Crewe and Nantwich.
"Local people are crying out for the sad spiral of decline in the area to be reversed, but very little is being done. It is time for a change.
"Crewe & Nantwich First are not party political, not left or right.
"I am the only independent candidate standing, all the rest represent their party and put their party first, we put the people of Crewe and Nantwich first.
"Our local priorities are the priorities of residents, like fixing the potholes, unblocking the drains, removing the litter and the fly tipping, ensuring street lights work and cleaning up the graffiti.
"Reviving Crewe Town Centre, before it disappears altogether, is another priority. Make July 4 independent's day."
Brian Silvester joins Connor Naismith (Labour), Ben Fletcher (Conservative), Matthew Theobald (Liberal Democrats), Te Ata Brown (Green Party), Phil Lane (Workers Party) and Matt Wood (Reform UK) in standing for the 2024 General Election in Crewe and Nantwich.
