Two in hospital and road closed following serious collision near Nantwich

Two people are in hospital and a road remains closed, following a serious collision this morning just outside Nantwich.

On Tuesday 15 October, emergency services received reports of an incident on Wrexham Road, Burland, close to Fishers Lane.

At 6.56am, One fire engine from Nantwich, one from Crewe, Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service arrived at the scene.

Wrexham Road remains closed while the collision incident is investigated (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

Emergency survives discovered the collision involved two cars, with one on its roof with a casualty trapped inside.

The casualty was rescued from the vehicle, handed into the care of paramedics and taken to hospital.

A second casualty from the other car was also treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Wrexham Road remains closed while the collision incident is investigated.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Emergency services were at the scene of a road traffic collision, on Wrexham Road, close to Fishers Lane. The road is currently closed in both directions.

"The collision involved two cars, one of which was on its roof with a casualty trapped inside.

"Care was given to the trapped casualty while firefighters planned the best method of extrication. They released the casualty, handing them into the care of the ambulance service.

"A second casualty from the other car was also treated by ambulance personnel before they were taken to hospital.

"Wrexham Road will remain closed while an investigation into the cause of the collision is undertaken.

"Firefighters have made up their equipment and have now left the scene."
