This closure allows United Utilities to carry out emergency waterworks.

Millstone Lane is expected to reopen on Tuesday 18 March. Vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.

The road closure affected bus services, including the 84 Stagecoach Nantwich to Crewe service.

A 84 Stagecoach bus passenger said: "We left Nantwich Bus Station at 1.10pm and when we got to Millstone Lane it said road closed and the driver turned it around.

"The driver asked passengers what the best route to get to Crewe was and we went via Barony Road, Middlewich Road and the Nantwich Bypass to get back on the normal route.

If you have any enquiries relating to the Millstone Lane works please contact United Utilities on 01925 235859 (Ryan Parker).

"It didn't impact the journey time too much, but it missed out key stops in Nantwich if anyone was waiting to go back to Crewe."

If you have any enquiries relating to the works please contact United Utilities on 01925 235859.
