The Cheshire Gentleman, renowned for their passion for fine wines and hospitality, will be taking over a popular pub in Nantwich this winter.

Mr Jonathan Welford and Mr Rob Hardy will operate The Oddfellows Arms, Welsh Row, from Tuesday 26 November.

In agreement with Marston's, the pair, who run a successful wine tasting business, will be bringing this expertise to the Nantwich venue.

The Cheshire Gentleman, renowned for their passion for fine wines and hospitality, will be taking over The Oddfellows Arms this November (The Cheshire Gentlemen).

The Cheshire Gentleman plan to increase the The Oddfellows Arms' wine, cheese and charcuterie offering, with a pub refurbishment planned in January 2025.

Mr Welford told Nub News: "We are thrilled to be taking over this Heritage Grade II-listed pub on the historic Welsh Row.

"We have already reached out to some operators to create the Welsh Row Ale trail.

"The pub used to be a theatre venue. We are not resurrecting that option. Our focus is on good ales, good wines and a good time.

"The Oddfellows Arms is our local pub. We were approached by the brewery, Marstons a while ago, as we looked at a pub in the Lake District.

"However, we decided we love Nantwich so much, we have lived here for nearly a decade and adore the community feel. Plus, we have some wonderful friends here."

Mr Welford confirmed to Nub News The Cheshire Gentleman had considered taking on the former Rodney Densem Wines unit, with a new wine bar and deli proposed at the site.

The joint-owner said: "At The Oddfellows Arms, we are looking to increase the wine offering and boards of cheeses and charcuterie.

"We ran a successful supper club before the pandemic and recently qualified with our wines exams WSET3 level.

"Me and Rob are both going to be working behind the bar, as hosts with the most.

The Cheshire Gentleman had considered taking on the former Rodney Densem Wines unit, but will now run The Oddfellows Arms (Ryan Parker).

"We both come from different backgrounds. I come from an estate agent background and Rob was a chief treasury accountant before moving into wine education.

"We did consider taking over Rodney Densens, however the landlord wanted to double the rent, which made it economically unviable."
