Pop icon Mel C (Melanie Chisholm) has proved her enduring star power after tickets for her forthcoming Nantwich concert sold out in just nine minutes, marking yet another headline-grabbing success for Applestump Records.

The former Spice Girl, 52, best known as 'Sporty Spice,' will perform an intimate live show at St Mary's Church in Nantwich on Monday 27 April, as part of the launch of her new solo album, Sweat.

Described as a love letter to the "heady and formative days" of the 1990s, the album has struck a chord with fans old and new.

Tickets went on sale at 10am on Friday 30 January and were snapped up almost instantly, underlining both Mel C's huge popularity and Nantwich's growing reputation as a destination for standout live music.

The concert is being organised by local independent music shop Applestump Records, which has enjoyed a run of high-profile successes in recent months.

The Oatmarket store has recently hosted packed-out record signings with Blue and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, as well as a series of popular live performances at its premises during Independent Venue Week.

Owner of Applestump Records, Steve Cook, said: "We're absolutely blown away by the response. To sell out a gig in nine minutes is incredible and shows just how much appetite there is for special, intimate music events in Nantwich.

"We're hugely grateful to the fans for their support and, of course, to Melanie for choosing to bring this very special show to our town."

Born Melanie Chisholm in 1974, Mel C rose to global fame as part of the Spice Girls, one of the most successful pop groups of all time.

Renowned for her powerful vocals and versatility, she has enjoyed a critically acclaimed solo career since 1999, alongside work in musical theatre, television and mental health advocacy.

Located in the heart of Nantwich, Applestump Records specialises in new and second-hand vinyl and is widely known for its in-store gigs, Q&A sessions and special events.
