A new private GP working at The Nantwich Clinic, with over 13 years experience in Crewe, says the new surgery is having a "steady flow" of customers coming through.

The Nantwich Clinic, Newcastle Road, launched its new private GP service this July.

Operated by husband and wife, Tom and Gill Fox, The Nantwich Clinic recruited Dr Dave Roberts, from Hough, to run its new private GP venture.

Dr Roberts previously worked at Crewe's Hungerford Road Medical Centre as an NHS GP for 13 years, needing a 'change' following its pressures (The Nantwich Clinic).

Dr Roberts previously worked at Crewe's Hungerford Road Medical Centre as an NHS GP, needing a "change" following its pressures.

Dr Roberts told Nub News: "I worked as a local NHS GP at Hungerford Medical Centre for around 13 years and did all of my training in South Cheshire.

"After being salaried initially, I became a partner where I thoroughly enjoyed but eventually wanted to make a change.

"All in all, It was a great experience at Hungerford, all the GPS do a great job.

"There is a lot of pressure on GPS and other health staff in the NHS and when an opportunity for change came along I took it.

"I have driven past The Nantwich Clinic on multiple occasions and it just happened they were advertising for a private GP at the same time I was looking for work.

"The Nantwich Clinic was the right place at the right time. We agreed to launch the service Tuesdays and Thursdays for the time being.

In the future, The Nantwich Clinic would like to run its private GP service five days a week, depending on demand (Nub News).

"This runs from 10.30am until 3.30pm and can expand as needed going forward."

Aside from The Nantwich Clinic, Dr Roberts works for the NHS in the form of a clinical assessment service (CAS). This is out-of-hours urgent care and done remotely.

The private GP said: "It has been a gradual start at The Nantwich Clinic, with a steady flow of patients coming through.

"All of our patients have a different reason for coming to us and we can see anything general practise related, along with making referrals, do investigations, refer for scans, ECGs and more.

"We are buildings links with places that can offer those as well.

"I am an experienced GP and spent a lot of my time as a GP trainer, teaching and mentoring others.

"A good GP is able to listen and communicate well, speak to patients on their level and provide and relaxed, but professional consultation.

The Nantwich Clinic's private GP service is based on the ground floor. The premises also provides disabled access (Nub News).

"A real benefit of The Nantwich Clinic is how long our appointment times are. There are no time pressures and this helps people feel they are listened to.

"I think the NHS is an excellent service, but because of the significant strain it is under, people need to be given a choice.

"I would never say anything negative about the NHS, everyone involved has such a hard job. Private GPs just provide another option for people."

"I have felt very welcome over the last few months. All of the new starters here feel the same way.

"I can't speak highly enough of the team and hopefully I can contribute to the success of the clinic.

"The Nantwich Clinic is always open to feedback and ideas from people, we are a developing service and hope to expand and improve. "
