One of South Cheshire's best-kept secrets, the Peacock Railway, welcomed visitors for its first-ever mid-week running day in July, with more planned across August.

Tucked behind The Peacock Inn on Crewe Road in Willaston, the miniature railway, run by the South Cheshire Model Engineering Society - offers scenic rides around its picturesque quarter-mile 5-inch gauge track.

The mid-week running day marked a new chapter for the society, which traditionally operates during weekends and special occasions.

The Peacock Railway, accessible via the back of The Peacock Inn's car park, has become a destination for model engineering fans and families alike (Jonathan White).

Railway lovers young and old turned out in droves for a nostalgic afternoon of steam and smiles.

For just £1, visitors enjoyed two laps around the track aboard lovingly maintained miniature steam and battery-electric trains.

Entry and parking were completely free, drawing families, enthusiasts, and curious passers-by to discover this hidden gem.

One of the society's volunteers said: "We are thrilled by the turnout. It is the first time we've opened mid-week to the public, and it is wonderful to see so many enjoying what we do."

The South Cheshire Model Engineering Society has been quietly building community spirit, craftsmanship, and a love of all things rail since its founding.
