Plans have been put forward to develop three new apartments above a "tired" former Nantwich town centre shop, with separate plans submitted to modernise the ground floor unit.

Applicant, Mr Martin Young, has submitted two sets of plans for 16-18 Welsh Row, located at the old Bamfords Top Flight wild bird seed store.

The applicant has applied for a change of use from commercial to residential on the first and second floor of the building, allowing for three apartments.

Mr Young has applied to redevelop the disrepaired shop front, replacing windows (on all floors), along with timber boardings for shop signage and low-level brick plinth at ground floor.

A design, access and heritage statement for the ground floor reads: "The application is to replace the windows and shop front to 16-18 Welsh Row.

"The first and second floor windows will be replaced with white timber windows to match the existing.

"The shop front will be improved with low-level brick plinth, full height timbers windows and new timber boarding for the signage.

"Given the state of disrepair of the front elevation, it is intended the work carried out will add to the character of the street and improve the overall appearance of a tired building."
