Plans have been put forward to construct three new residential units above a trio of Nantwich town centre shops.

Applicant, Lutton (Hero Property Investments Limited), proposes the addition of first floor accommodation over the existing commercial units at 52-56 Beam Street.

The applicant wants to provide three new one-bed, two person, residential units, together with associated parking, bin and cycle storage in the rear yard.

The applicant wants to provide three new one-bed, two person, residential units (CEC Planning).

Located close to the junction with Market Street, the site is in close proximity to Nantwich Library, a number of businesses, and Nantwich Bus Station.

Beam Street itself is predominantly commercial premises, many with residential accommodation over it.

The Nantwich building currently comprises three businesses, Deelux Kitchens, DNL Family Barbers Nantwich and Gossip Nails.

Currently, 52-56 Beam Street provides ground floor accommodation only, with a false facade at first floor to retain the established eaves level of the street scene.

A design access and heritage statement reads: "The application which this statement accompanies seeks to add a first floor to provide three new residential units.

"These would be accessed by a stair core to the rear of the existing building, via the private gated alley from Beam Street or directly accessed from the rear yard.

"Each unit will benefit from a small, terraced area to the rear.

The yard to the rear of the building will provide each unit with two parking spaces. Each unit will have a small terraced area (CEC Planning).

"Inside the flats, open plan living/ kitchen/ dining areas are situated by the entrance at the rear, with bedrooms located at the front of the building.

"The yard to the rear of the building will provide each unit with two parking spaces. In addition, there is a designated area for waste storage and collection."

The last date for submitting comments on this application is Wednesday 21 May. A decision will be made shortly after this.
