Three local brothers rolled into Nantwich on Easter Sunday in a miniature 1940s bus, as part of an charity journey covering 1,000 miles from Land's End to John o' Groats.

Will, Andrew, and James Emerton, all from Nantwich, are undertaking the epic "Little Bus Big Ride" challenge in honour of the centenary of their family business, Emerton Roofing.

But more than just a milestone celebration, their journey is aimed at raising vital funds and awareness for children's charities.

The trio set off from Land's End on Good Friday in a tiny 1948 fairground bus, just three feet tall and eight feet long, once used on Brighton's seafront.

Travelling at 12mph, the self-restored vintage vehicle has become a moving symbol of hope, determination, and community spirit.

Crowds gathered in Nantwich on Easter Sunday to welcome the brothers home as they passed through Welsh Row and into the town centre during the annual Jazz, Blues & Music Festival.

Supporters with charity buckets flanked the bus, collecting donations along the way, as their support vehicle trailed behind.

The brothers are raising money for three charities supporting children and young people living with life-threatening illnesses and adversity:

  • Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith Children's Hospices, offering care across Shropshire, Cheshire, and Wales
  • MPS Society UK, assisting those affected by rare genetic disorders such as MPS and Fabry
  • The Children's Society, dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable youth across the UK

The entire project has been self-funded by the Emerton family, who spent months lovingly restoring the vintage bus and meticulously planning the logistics of their journey.

The Emerton brothers are expected to complete their journey and reach John o' Groats by Friday 25 April (Emerton Roofing Contractors).

They are now over halfway to their £30,000 fundraising goal, with donations still pouring in.
