Plans have been put forward to construct a new Burger King and Greggs at Morrisons Petrol Station, Station Road (CEC Planning).

Plans have been submitted to construct a new Burger King and Greggs at a Nantwich petrol station, creating up to 30 jobs.

Applicant, Motor Fuel Group (MFG), has applied to demolish the existing car wash for a single storey extension to the existing sales building, including two 'food to go' counters at Morrisons Petrol Station, Station Road.

The UK's largest forecourt operator plans to construct a new EV charging zone with EV canopy, substation enclosure, five jet wash bays, plant room, and associated works, which it proposed last July and wants no amendments to.

Motor Fuel Group (MFG), has applied to demolish the existing car wash for a single storey extension to the existing sales building, including two 'food to go' counters at Morrisons Petrol Station (Akhil S).

In an amended scheme, MFG wants an additional extension to the southern end of the petrol filling station kiosk, proposed to be occupied by Greggs - in a first for the town.

The approved extension to the north of the kiosk is now proposed to be operated by Burger King, potentially Nantwich's first ever burger chain.

These amended plans come just weeks after MFG applied to make the Nantwich petrol station open 24/7.

In January 2024, Motor Fuel Group and Morrisons announced they had entered into an agreement for the acquisition of 337 Morrisons forecourts, including Nantwich.

This included Morrisons' fuel, convenience, retail kiosk and ancillary services across in the UK, in a deal worth £2.5 billion.

As part of the transaction, Morrisons has taken a minority stake of around 20 per cent in MFG, entering its commercial and supply agreements.

These amended plans come just weeks after MFG applied to make the Nantwich petrol station open 24/7 (Akhil S).

A covering letter reads: "The proposals will enhance the existing offering at the site, without compromising the efficient operation of the facility.

"The proposed development will create wider local economic benefits, including the creation of up to 30 full-time equivalent jobs."

The last date for submitting comments on this application is Wednesday 6 August, with a target decision date of Wednesday 13 August.
