A new "relaxed" breakfast and lunch venue with a bar has launched in Nantwich town centre, offering gourmet toasted sandwiches and more in a dog-friendly environment.

Toast Haus, 28 Pillory Street, opened a 8.30am on Wednesday 21 May, with an initial 16-seater ground floor venue, taking on the former Guayoyo Venezuelan restaurant.

Run by Nantwich residents, Mitchell Green, 31, and Mitchel Hodges, 34, the pair have over 30 years of hospitality experience between them

The dog-friendly Toast Haus serves a variety of breakfast and brunch items, toasted sandwiches, light bites, sides and Sunday roasts, along with alcoholic beverages, hot drinks and soft drinks (Ryan Parker).

Toast Haus told Nub News: "We have lived in Nantwich for eight years now and love this bustling town, there is always something going on.

"We have always wanted to run our own business and when this opportunity came up we really went for it.

"Between us, we have over 30 years of hospitality experience, with Mitchel working for the likes of The Wickstead and Michells & Butlers, and Mitchell helping out and working in his aunty's cafe from the age of 14.

"When viewing this property we fell in love with it. It is the perfect size for our first time and we have the opporunity to expand upstairs further down the line.

"The name 'Toast Haus,' comes with 'toast' having the two meanings of toast with your breakfast and toasting a drink, with us having an alcohol licence.

'Haus' is pronounced house, but spelt the German way, bringing a play on words and bringing something unique. In some communities it means a small gathering together for a collective reason.

"Everyone in Nantwich loves these kind of places, there are some great places to eat and drink here and we hope we can add to that."

Employing four members of staff, Toast Haus is inspired by Danish open sandwiches, a staple of the European country's cuisine.

The new Nantwich venue also serves the likes of lagar, pale ale, wine and spirits and offers a takeaway menu.

Toast Haus said: "Last year, when visiting Copenhagen we were inspired by their amazing open sandwiches, piled with different fillings. They looked so impressive and we spun that into our own idea in Nantwich.

"We serve a variety of breakfast and brunch items, with all meats locally sourced from Longmans Farm Shop. Our coffee comes from Lost Barn, which is roasted in Cheshire.

"We offer a children's menu, vegan and gluten-free options and are also dog-friendly. When we expand upstairs and have more space we will look to have two separate areas

"At Toast Haus, we are offering a relaxed breakfast and lunch venue, a middle ground between a bistro diner and a cafe.

Toast Haus is open 8.30am to 4pm (Tuesday to Saturday) and 9am to 4pm (Sunday) (Toast Haus).

"We have tried every eatery in Nantwich and know what this town is all about. We offer high quality produce and service at a reasonable price in a friendly atmosphere.

"Pillory Street is the place to go for food now. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive on Facebook and we are so excited to serve the local community."
