A new family-run sweet shop has launched in Nantwich town centre, enjoying a "very busy" opening period.

Cherry on Top, Crown Mews, opened its doors for the first time at 10am on Friday 4 July, offering a wide variety of sweets, treats and homemade bakes.

Operated by Heather Russell and husband Jason, who live in Crewe, Cherry On Top opened in South Cheshire following a large family effort.

Heather, 57, told Nub News: "It was brilliant to open Cherry On Top in Nantwich. The feedback so far has been amazing, with everyone who has visited us really happy with the shop.

"Here, we sell traditional sweets, children's sweets, brownies, tray bakes, cupcakes and more. It has been a very emotional experience finally opening our own store.

"During launch, we sold out of our bakes and cakes, with the brownies going down a storm. The sweets have also been really popular.

"Me and Jason class ourselves as Nantwich people. We constantly come to the town and saw a gap in the market to open on Sundays as so many people come here for a coffee, food or some drinks.

"It was ever so busy in our shop on Sunday so it seems this will be a good idea going forward. We are open five days a week.

Cherry On Top is open 10am to to 4.30pm (Wednesday to Saturday) and 10am to 3pm (Sunday) (Cherry On Top).

"Myself and Jason have a wealth of experience in retail. I had baked from home for the last 18 months, selling celebration cakes and the likes.

"A sweet cart we used for wedding events has become vocal point in the shop. As a family, we are so happy with the ways things have started and are so excited for the weeks and months ahead."

Cherry On Top is open 10am to to 4.30pm (Wednesday to Saturday) and 10am to 3pm (Sunday).
