St Luke's Hospice has announced this year's Nantwich to Crewe Midnight Walk will be the final one, in the much-loved event's 21-year history.

Since its launch in 2005, the Midnight Walk has brought together thousands of supporters who have walked in memory of loved ones, in support of hospice care, and to raise vital funds for St Luke's.

Over more than two decades, the event has become one of the hospice's most recognisable community fundraisers, raising more than £2.5million to help provide expert and compassionate care for local people and their families.

Following careful consideration, the hospice has made the decision 2026's Midnight Walk, due to take place from Reaseheath College at 10pm on Saturday 27 June, will be the last one.

Head of Fundraising at St Luke's Hospice, Claire Langston, said: "The Midnight Walk has been an extraordinary part of St Luke's story for 21 years. It has created countless memories, celebrated lives, and united our community in support of the hospice.

"We are incredibly proud of everything the Midnight Walk has achieved. Most importantly, we want to thank every walker, volunteer, sponsor and supporter who has been part of its journey over the past 21 years.

"Their commitment and generosity have made a real difference to the lives of thousands of people, and we are so very grateful.

"We hope our loyal and kind community will make this last Midnight Walk one to truly remember on Saturday 27th June.

"Please walk with us for one last time, show your support for St Luke's and celebrate what the Midnight Walk has meant."

St Luke's stressed the decision has not been made lightly, reflecting a need to adapt its fundraising programme to meet new challenges and opportunities.

This ensures it can continue providing specialist care and support to local families.

Ms Langston added: "Unfortunately, we are operating in an increasingly challenging fundraising environment.

""The costs of delivering large-scale events continue to rise and participation levels are changing.

"To ensure we maximise the funds available for patient care, we have made the difficult decision that this year's Midnight Walk will be the last.

"This year's theme, "Let's Glow", promises an unforgettable night filled with energy, entertainment, and community spirit.

"The event will once again be proudly sponsored by Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc, marking their ninth consecutive year of support which makes such a difference to St Luke's."
