Nantwich teen arrested on suspicion of GBH following town alleyway assault

A Nantwich teenager has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, following a serious town centre alleyway assault.

Around 3am on Saturday 21 February, Cheshire East Council CCTV alerted emergency services to an altercation in a pedestrianised area, connecting Wall Lane with Beam Street.

During this incident, a 19-year-old male was seriously injured and treated by North West Ambulance paramedics at the scene.

The teenager was taken to Leighton Hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Stoke Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

An 18-year-old male, of Edleston, Nantwich, was arrested on suspicion GBH and common assault.

He has since been released on conditional bail with a court date set for Wednesday 20 May.

Police cordoned off the alleyway, connecting Beam Street and Snow Hill Car Park on 21 February.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 3am on Saturday 21 February, local authority CCTV made officers aware of an ongoing altercation in the Beam Street area of Nantwich, near to Home Bargains.

"Officers attended and on arrival they found a 19-year-old man from Crewe had been seriously assaulted.

"The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and was later taken to Leighton Hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Stoke Hospital.

"He remains in hospital at this time, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Following further enquiries with the local Authority CCTV, an 18-year-old from Edleston was arrested on suspicion of section-18 assault [GBH] and section 39 [common assault].

"The man has since been released on conditional bail until Wednesday 20 May 2026."
