This May, Nantwich South and Stapeley councillors, Geoff Smith and John Priest, and Connor Naismith MP visited the renewed site of Nantwich Station, which has recently been cleared and fenced off by Network Rail.

Following reports from concerned residents that rubbish had been left on the site, Geoff and John referred the case to Mr Naismith, who was able to request an update on progress from Network Rail.

Network Rail confirmed the area had been cleared and discussed plans to add screening to the inside of the fence surrounding the station, which have since been implemented.

The rubbish left around the Nantwich Railway Station site, which has since been cleared. Screening has also been added to the inside of the fence surrounding the station (Connor Naismith MP).

The group told Nub News they will continue to monitor this situation to ensure the work is completed to a standard that Nantwich Station, and the local residents, deserve.

A Connor Naismith spokesperson said: "We are pleased to have solved this issue through a collaborative effort across Mr Naismith's office and Cheshire East Council.

"We will be closely following Network Rail's planned restoration of the station bridge.

Network Rail plans to restore Nantwich's historic footbridge at the railway station, with the project due for delivery in 2027/28 (Ryan Parker).

"Thank you to the local residents for making us aware of this issue."
