Popular Nantwich shop gears up for biggest-ever Record Store Day
By Jonathan White 13th Apr 2026
Music lovers in Nantwich are being urged to mark their calendars as Applestump Records prepares to host its fifth Record Store Day event this April.
The popular independent vinyl shop, located on Oatmarket, will open its doors at 8am on Saturday 18 April as part of Record Store Day UK, a nationwide celebration that brings together nearly 300 independent record shops.
The annual event has become a highlight for collectors and casual fans alike, with more than 500 limited-edition releases set to be available exclusively through participating independent record stores.
Applestump Records has built a strong reputation for its Record Store Day celebrations, with this year's event expected to be its biggest yet.
In 2025, queues began forming as early as 8pm the night before, with around 120 people lining up before the shop even opened.

Steve Cook, who founded the shop with his wife Danielle, told Nub News: "We're incredibly proud to be hosting Record Store Day for the fifth time.
"The support from the Nantwich community has been amazing, and seeing people queue overnight just shows how special this day is for music fans.
"This year's releases are fantastic, and we're expecting another brilliant atmosphere in the shop.
"The first 10 people in the queue will receive a free RSD tote bag and t-shirt and we will have popular local DJ collective 'Hermanos Del Sol' spinning vinyl only Balearic/chill out tunes on our stage from 1pm until close.
"What's more, our lovely neighbours Claudia and John in The Talbot pub are going to be setting a grill up on their front garden to offer up some breakfast to those hardy souls who've queued up all night."
Applestump Records specialises in new and second-hand vinyl and has become a hub for live music in Nantwich, regularly hosting in-store gigs, Q&A sessions and special events that support grassroots artists.
