A Nantwich record shop will be striking a chord this January as Applestump Records announces a week-long series of intimate live gigs to celebrate Independent Venue Week 2026.

From Monday 26 to Saturday 31 January, the shop at 4 Oatmarket will transform into a cosy micro-venue, welcoming audiences to enjoy live performances up close in one of the town's most creative spaces.

The special programme will showcase grassroots music and rising talent from across the region, alongside special guest performances.

It is all part of the national Independent Venue Week celebration, which highlights the importance of small, independent spaces in supporting new artists and local music communities.

The first show announced, featuring acclaimed folk artist Amelia Coburn, has already sold out, showing strong local enthusiasm for live music events in Nantwich. More artists and event details are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Owner of Applestump Records, Steve Cook, said: "Independent Venue Week is a reminder of just how important small, grassroots spaces are for artists and communities alike.

"We are incredibly excited to bring a full week of live music to Nantwich and to support the musicians who make our scene so special."

Since opening, Applestump Records has become a hub for local music lovers, hosting regular in-store gigs and collaborating on community projects to promote creativity in the town.

Its involvement in Independent Venue Week reflects its ongoing commitment to nurturing new talent and celebrating live music culture.
