Nantwich high school closed after headteacher dies suddenly

A Nantwich high school has closed to pupils today (April 29), after its headteacher died suddenly.
David Cole of Brine Leas Academy, Audlem Road, sadly passed away on Sunday 28 April.
Brine Leas has confirmed the school will reopen to pupils on Tuesday 30 April, with exams running as planned.
A letter from the chair of governors at Brine Leas, Rachel Bolton, read: "We are shocked and saddened to inform you that David Cole, headteacher at Brine Leas school, died suddenly yesterday.
"This is a terrible shock for the entire school community and our love and thoughts are with David's family and friends at this really difficult time.
"We can confirm that school will be open as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 30 April 2024), for all pupils and exams will run as planned.
"Further details will follow in the coming days and the school will be providing any support for staff and pupils that is needed.
"The family have asked for privacy and we encourage you to respect this."
David had worked at Brine Leas since 2000 and took over as headteacher in January 2019.
