MP and Cheshire Police & Crime Commissioner attend Nantwich walkabout with Sergeant Stonier

Connor Naismith MP and Cheshire Police & Crime Commissioner, Dan Price, met in Nantwich this July to discuss anti-social behaviour in the town centre and visit Nantwich Youth and Community Centre.
The Youth Centre is a recipient of Mr Price's SWAP Summer Support Fund and is using the grant to provide day trips and a second youth rock festival at the Birchin Lane venue.
Dan's Summer Support Fund works in conjunction with a wider government Safer Streets Summer Initiative that is being rolled out across 500 town centres in the UK. Both Crewe and Nantwich are signed up to the programme.
The initiative will run throughout the summer, with local authorities supporting community-based organisations to provide young people with safe spaces and activities to engage in to redirect them away from antisocial behaviour.

Whilst on the walkabout, Connor and Dan met two outreach workers for Nantwich Youth and Community Centre, who help to support and onboard young people in the area.
Both were heavily involved in the organisation of the youth rock festival and were keen to discuss future ideas for the Youth Centre.
Mr Naismith said: "Tackling antisocial behaviour is a recurring issue for many across Cheshire, and in Crewe and Nantwich.
I am grateful that our local police force and the national government is taking a hands-on approach, alongside Dan, to tackle the root causes of antisocial behaviour by redirecting people – especially young people – away from criminal behaviour and towards activities for personal and social development.
It's absolutely right that this support comes from within the community. We know that vulnerable people work best with those that they trust.
That's why schemes like the Safer Streets Summer Initiative and Dan's SWAP Fund are so vital, in helping foster the relationship between the police, young people, and local community-led organisations.
The government's Crime and Policing Bill has likewise introduced a range of measures to help our officers to tackle anti-social behaviour when it does transpire, alongside 13,000 new officers."
