Man in 70s dies after falling from Nantwich Aqueduct

A man in his 70s has died after falling from Nantwich Aqueduct onto the road below.

On Wednesday 18 December, emergency services recived reports of a serious incident on Welsh Row.

Around 11.02am, Cheshire Police arrived at the scene, discovering a man had fallen from Nantwich Aqueduct.

Following the incident, Welsh Row was closed in both directions between Waterlode and the A51 for several hours (Nub News).

The man's death is not believed to be suspicious, with a file being prepared for the coroner.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 11.02am this morning, (Wednesday 18 December), police were called to Welsh Row in Nantwich following reports of a man falling from the aqueduct onto the road below.

"Emergency services are at the scene with the casualty and a number of road closures are in place.

The man's death is not believed to be suspicious, with a file being prepared for the coroner (Cheshire Police).

"There are no suspicious circumstances, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
