Plans to extend a Grade II-listed property in Nantwich, as well as making parking improvements, have been approved by Cheshire East Council.

In September, applicant, Mr Dickson, proposed a two storey rear extension with minor alterations at 60 Pillory Street.

On Monday 28 October, plans for the site, which backs on to a public car park on Love Lane, were given the green light.

The applicant will resurface the current householder car park area, adding security gates to restrict casual access by others to the property's rear (Cheshire East Planning).

A minimum of two spaces will be provided, with the potential of additional parking depending on the applicant.

This Nantwich cottage, situated at the southern and western side of Pillory Street, leads directly into Nantwich town centre.

Built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, this property is part of the 52-62 Pillory Street terrace, which are all Grade II-listed.

Satisfied with the proposals, a Cheshire East planning officer said: "it is not considered the extensions as proposed would have a significant impact in neighbouring privacy and amenity.

"It is noted no comments from the owners/occupiers of the neighbouring properties have been received ti as application as part of the consultation process.

The proposed floor plans for 60 Pillory Street (Cheshire East Planning).

"Although changes are being proposed to the existing off-road car parking, the resurfacing of the existing parking area and the installation of gates set back some 5.5 metres from the kerb edge.

"There would be no loss of parking provision or change to the existing vehicular access.

"The proposed extensions and alterations are acceptable in this instance and comply with the Development Plan and guidance within the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)."
