German indie pop/rock duo barn54 rocked Nantwich with an energetic live performance at The Wilbraham Arms on 2 October, as their epic 'From Athens to Aberdeen Tour' 2026 continued across the UK.
The Heidelberg-based duo of Simon Buss and Sina Ray returned to Nantwich for a memorable night of live music, with Nantwich-based singer and guitarist Jonathan Tarplee and Dave Coomer on cajón box drum, both from The Blue Yellows, warming up the audience before joining barn54 on stage.
Having spent much of the year travelling across Europe in their touring van, performing at venues and festivals, barn54 brought their distinctive blend of indie rock, indie pop and acoustic music to a packed and enthusiastic Wilbraham Arms.
Their diverse set combined guitar-driven rock, melodic piano, expressive vocals and powerful harmonies, with upbeat numbers getting the Nantwich crowd singing and dancing while more melancholic and emotional ballads added plenty of contrast.
Barn54's wide-ranging musical influences include grunge, indie, 1960s music, blues, hard rock and folk, with occasional harder and punk-rock elements bringing an extra burst of energy to their live performances.
The duo's growing following in the UK was reflected in the enthusiastic reception for fan favourites including 'Still Fighting', 'Answer in the Sky' and 'The Shades Song'.
Simon Buss even took his performance around The Wilbraham Arms, singing and playing while walking through the venue to the delight of the captivated audience.
'The Shades Song' proved to be a particular highlight, having been released in several versions, including a punk-rock version and a newer summer-inspired version recorded inside barn54's touring van.
Simon Buss and Sina Ray said: "It was fantastic to be back in Nantwich and to share our music with such a warm and enthusiastic crowd.
"We love the freedom of touring in our van, meeting new people and returning to places where we have already made friends.
"Nantwich was another brilliant stop on our From Athens to Aberdeen Tour and we hope to come back again soon.
"Thank you to Jonathan and Dave for joining forces for clicking with us musically. Thank you as always for everyone who attended our gig."
barn54 have now amassed more than 1.5 million Spotify streams, underlining the growing popularity of their distinctive sound alongside their relentless touring schedule.
The Nantwich performance formed part of a busy run of UK dates for the duo, who are due to perform at Tom's Tap in Crewe on Friday 9 October and Artisan Tap in Stoke on Saturday 10 October, with local favourites The Blue Yellows supporting at both shows.
There is also more new music on the horizon, with barn54 planning a new EP for early 2027.
