The Lilacs delight fans with two packed-out Nantwich shows

Popular indie band The Lilacs brought their raw, indie sound to Nantwich for two packed-out shows organised by independent record shop Applestump Records.
The Wigan band performed in the ballroom at The Crown Hotel, Bar & Grill on Saturday 10 October, with huge demand prompting two performances on the same day.
Fans enjoyed a matinee show at 5pm followed by an evening performance at 8pm, with both shows featuring a special set, Q&A and an album signing.
Formed in October 2018, The Lilacs have grown from local favourites into an established name on the UK indie music scene, earning a reputation for their energetic live performances.
The four-piece comprises lead vocalist Ollie Anglesea, lead guitarist Sam Birchall, bassist Matt Johnson and drummer Dave Gomersall.
Their highly anticipated debut album, Keeping Up With The Joneses, was released on 9 October, just the day before the Nantwich shows.
The band's breakout anthem, Vicarage Road, has surpassed 2.5 million streams on Spotify, while other popular tracks include Grace and Sticky Dancefloors.

Known for their high-energy performances, The Lilacs have played major venues including Manchester Academy 1 and the O2 Ritz, as well as appearing at festivals such as the Isle of Wight Festival and Tramlines.
The band also have a personal connection behind their name, which pays tribute to The Lilac Centre, the specialist cancer facility where Sam Birchall's late mother received care.
The Nantwich concerts added to a growing list of successful live music events organised by Applestump Records, which recently celebrated a year since moving into its larger premises on Oatmarket.
The independent record shop, owned by Steve and Danielle Cook, opened its new store in September 2025 after relocating from Barker Street.
Alongside in-store performances, Applestump has brought a series of high-profile artists to Nantwich for sold-out concerts, including pop star Mel C at St Mary's Church and Reverend & the Makers at Nantwich Civic Hall.
The shop specialises in new and second-hand vinyl, with a constantly changing selection spanning indie, alternative, soul, electronic, jazz, pop and classic albums.
Steve said: "Highest of fives to all who came out for either (or both) of our Lilacs out-store shows. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.
"Thanks to the band for two great shows and the crew for all their help. Good luck with the rest of the tour and of course the album campaign.
"Thanks also to Robbie and the team at The Crown for the beautiful room and for looking after everyone.
"The usual love to our mob; Dani Bookings, Sophie Scans, Pete Doors, Mikey Sound and Ang Photos. You're the best."
