Local fire crews tackled a serious blaze involving a parked car in Nantwich, confirmed to be caused by an "electrical fault."

On Saturday 20 July, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of an incident on Beechwood Close, Stapeley.

At 6:25pm, one fire engine from Crewe arrived at the scene, finding smoke coming out from the engine compartment of a vehicle.

Crewe firefighters found a small electrical fault, quickly isolating the parked car's battery.

No one was injured in the incident, with the vehicle sustaining minor damage (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews were called to reports of smoke coming from the engine compartment of a parked car.

"They found a small electrical fault and isolated the car's battery."
