Emergency services have responded to a major incident in Nantwich town centre, with electric out for a number of businesses in the area.

At around 10am on Friday 5 April, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to reports of an electrical blaze on Welsh Row, outside The Royal Owl.

Cheshire Police officers are at the scene assisting with a road closure on Welsh Row, between Waterlode and Second Wood Street.

The fire has been confirmed as being caused by an "electrical fault."

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "Welsh Row, Nantwich, is currently closed between Waterlode and Second Wood Street.

"Local diversions are currently in place.

"The incident relates to an electrical fault in the street which is being managed by the utilities provider."
