A Crewe woman has been arrested for failing to provide a drugs wipe, following a serious car blaze in South Cheshire.

On Wednesday 9 July, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an incident on Shropshire Street, Audlem, outside Co-op Food.

At 12.16pm, two fire engines from Nantwich arrived at the scene, discovering a red Vauxhall Insignia in flames from the front of the vehicle.

Firefighters called Cheshire Police to the scene at 12.45pm, with officers assisting with road closures.

Officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old woman from Crewe, for failing to provide a drugs wipe.

She currently remains in police custody.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the Vauxhall blaze.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 12.45pm on Wednesday 9 July, officers in Crewe were notified to reports of a vehicle fire from colleagues at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"Officers attended the scene on Shropshire Street, Audlem, and found that a red Vauxhall Insignia was on fire, closing the roads in the process.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the Vauxhall blaze, with the female driver remaining in police custody (Credit: Claire Edwards).

 "The fire is not believed to have been started deliberately.

 "Officers have since arrested the driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old, from Crewe on suspicion of failing to provide a drugs wipe.

 "She remains in custody at this time."
