North West Academies Trust has confirmed the appointment of Sally Burns as the founding Head of School at Kingsbourne Academy, the new primary school due to open in Nantwich in September 2026.

Sally joins Kingsbourne from Pebble Brook Primary School in Crewe, where she currently serves as Assistant Headteacher.

An experienced senior leader, she brings more than 16 years of experience in primary education, including over a decade in senior leadership.

Throughout her career, Sally has placed children firmly at the centre of her leadership, with a strong track record in school improvement, curriculum development and developing staff capacity.

Her experience and values make her well placed to lead the establishment and growth of Kingsbourne Academy.

In her current role, Sally holds whole-school responsibility for teaching and learning, curriculum development, assessment and data, staff development, safeguarding and school improvement.

"I'm very much looking forward to building our staff team and meeting the families whose children will be among the first to begin their journey at Kingsbourne."

Kingsbourne Academy is currently under construction and the build is progressing well, with the school on track to open to its first Reception pupils in September 2026.

Chief Executive Officer of North West Academies Trust, Steve Docking OBE, said: "We are delighted to appoint Sally as the founding Head of School at Kingsbourne Academy.

"She brings significant leadership experience, a deep commitment to children's success and a strong understanding of what it takes to build an outstanding school community.

"Opening a new school is a rare opportunity, and I am confident that under Sally's leadership Kingsbourne Academy will become a thriving and successful school serving families in Nantwich for many years to come."
