Crewe and Nantwich households set for £100 energy payment under Budget plans
By Ryan Parker 28th Oct 2026
Over 46,000 homes in Crewe and Nantwich are expected to benefit from a £100 energy payment under measures announced in the Government's latest Budget.
The payment will be available to eligible households in council tax bands A to D in England, with the Government aiming to help families facing pressure from energy costs.
Crewe and Nantwich MP, Connor Naismith, said the measures would help residents manage the cost of living, while supporting local businesses.
The Budget, announced on Wednesday 28 October, also extends the temporary zero per cent VAT rate on domestic electricity until June 30, 2027.
A further £100 million will be made available to local authorities in England to support households in greatest need.
Motorists will benefit from an extension of the 5p fuel duty cut, with fuel duty rates frozen until July 2027.
For businesses, a £1 billion package of business rates measures will support the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.

Labour says around 70,000 additional businesses across the country will be taken out of business rates altogether.
The Budget also includes a new £4.7 billion Your First Home scheme, designed to help around 70,000 first-time buyers onto the property ladder.
An additional £1.5 billion will also be invested in social and affordable housing, with the aim of delivering around 10,000 more homes.
Mr Naismith told Nub News: "Wednesday's Budget is for working people. Over 46,000 homes in Crewe & Nantwich will benefit from the 'Household Energy Repayment.'
"100 self-employed dads will be entitled to paternity pay. Over 1,000 businesses across Cheshire East will benefit from a freeze in real-term Business Rates.
"This Government understands the everyday pressures facing residents in Crewe & Nantwich and is putting measures in place to tackle the cost-of-living, back businesses, and support good growth in our communities."
The measures form part of the Government's wider plans to ease pressure on household finances and encourage economic growth.
