Cheshire Police continue appeal into circumstances surrounding death of Nantwich teenager

Cheshire Police officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Jonty Evans are appealing for further information and CCTV footage as their enquiry continues.

Jonty Evans, 16, was reported missing by his family on Saturday 31 August.

Sadly, Jonty was found dead in the river Weaver near Riverside, Nantwich, on Sunday 1 September.

An investigation into how Jonty entered the water remains ongoing. Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have been in the Mill Island and Riverside area of Nantwich between 12.30am and 6am on Saturday 31 August, and who may have information which may assist the investigation.

Jonty Evans was found dead in the River Weaver near Riverside, Nantwich, on Sunday 1 September (Cheshire Police).

Officers are also asking the public to contact them if they believe they may have CCTV, ring doorbell, or dashcam footage in the area during the same time frame.

Detective Inspector Nigel Parr, of the Constabulary's Major Investigation Team, said: "Our enquiries into how Jonty entered the River Weaver remain ongoing, and, as part of our investigation, we are looking to hear from anyone who may have been in the Mill Island area of Nantwich between 12.30am and 6am on Saturday 31 August.

"Anyone with any CCTV, dashcam, Ring doorbell footage or any information relating to this incident can submit it to police directly via MIPP."
