A charity working across Cheshire including Nantwich has made a huge impact, as figures from the Office for National Statistics show over a quarter of adults in the UK feel lonely.

Changing Lives Together, based in Northwich, launched the Warm Welcome group in April as part of their Buddy and Befriending scheme, aiming to support those within the community who are lonely or isolated.

The group meet every Wednesday at the Rudheath Social club in Northwich, starting with around ten attendees, this has grown to over 40 since the group began.

The scheme also has a weekly telephone service which matches volunteers with clients based on their interests.

Head of community support, Lesley Moore, said: "It really does mean a lot to those who need it.

"The service is a real lifeline."
