Having spent a considerable period of time in the USA, Black Friday is all about stores clearing out the goods that haven't sold, out-of-date stock, customer returns, damaged goods etc. at ridiculous prices (I'll never forget the high-spec Lenovo laptop that I bought in North Dakota for $149 because they had lost the box) just to empty the stockroom. People would queue for hours, There would be arguments and fights between the customers, people screaming and shouting - it was a really exciting thing to see and worth going to Walmart just for the entertainment value. But in the UK, not only have they imported another custom from North America (which in itself is ironic seeing as the USA has only been in existence for about 250 years) because the British are too lazy to invent their own, they can't even import it correctly. What a sad state of affairs.
