A team of volunteers has been working hard to improve road safety in their local communities as part of National Community Speed Watch Day.

On 15 July, volunteers from the Wybunbury, Hankelow and Burleydam Community Speed Watch groups took part in sessions to record vehicles breaking the speed limit.

During the day, 75 vehicles were thought to have exceeded the 30mph speed limit on roads across the area.

Cheshire Police said: "Community Speed Watch plays an important role in raising awareness of the dangers of speeding and encouraging drivers to slow down, helping to keep our villages safer for everyone, especially residents, pedestrians, cyclists and children.

"A huge thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who gave up their time to support this initiative and help make a difference in their communities.

"Please remember: speed limits are there for a reason.

"Slowing down can save lives."
