A new cocktail bar and distillery has won approval to open in Nantwich town centre, with work now underway on the former Chatwins bakery site.

Cheshire-based, Three Wrens Gin, known for its award-winning spirits, is set to captivate gin enthusiasts with its new venture, 'The Nest,' on Pepper Street.

Planning permissions and licenses have been approved the Nantwich development, due to open this June.

Three Wrens are an independent family business, formed by a family of three in Wrenbury, 2019 (Three Wrens Gin).

Founder & distiller, Nick Wadeson, is bringing his expertise and passion for craft spirits to this 1000 square foot space, transforming it into what promises to be "a gin lover's playground."

The Nest will feature a fully working onsite distillery, sophisticated cocktail bar, gin school, and gift shop, showcasing their full range of spirits and hampers.

It will also host a series of special events throughout the year.

Mr Wadeson told Nub News: "It feels incredible to share the news we will be opening a new venue right here in our hometown of Nantwich, where many of our most loyal customers live.

"Local people deserve to see first hand where their food and drink is made, and our original copper still, Valerie, will take centre stage, producing exquisite gins right before their eyes.

"I hope people will also find it reassuring that the premises is being transferred from one local family business, to another, upholding Nantwich's famously independent spirit."

The ambiance of the new venue will reflect a chic New York drinking den, with charcoal black tones, elegant copper finishes, plush furnishings, and lush greenery to reflect the botanicals used in gin production.

The team, led by local hospitality veteran Rhys Caldwell, will introduce an extensive menu of cocktails and perfect serves, complemented by a carefully curatedselection of wines and Champagnes.

The first gin to run off the still will be Three Wrens' brand new 'Pepper Street Gin', a very special release exclusively made on the premises, using herbs grown under hydroponic lights on-site.

The gin is now available for pre-order on the Three Wrens website. £5 from each bottle sold will be donated to St Luke's Hospice.

People are able to pledge their support to the project by pre-purchasing an experience, the proceeds from which will go towards the fit-out costs, and can be redeemed upon opening.

Three Wrens Gin has earned international acclaim, boasting 10 gold medals from prestigious competitions such as the World Gin Awards and Global Spirits Masters.

In 2022, the local business were named Cheshire's Drink Producer of the Year. They are one of only a small handful of craft distillers ever to receive the coveted Golden Fork at the Great Taste Awards.

Three Wrens Gin's distillery operations remain unchanged, with them continuing to produce larger batches of their gin, and host their main public gin tastings and tours at its HQ, located at Juniper House, Park View, Combermere.
