South Cheshire railway inviting families for open day on Easter Sunday

The Peacock Railway is inviting families to climb aboard for an afternoon of miniature train rides as it hosts its second public open day of the year on Sunday 20 April, from 12pm to 4pm.
Tucked away behind The Peacock Inn on Crewe Road, Willaston, this miniature railway is run by the South Cheshire Model Engineering Society, whose dedicated members are once again opening the gates to their lovingly maintained tracks.
For just £1 per person, visitors can enjoy two laps around the charming five-inch gauge track, taking in the sights and sounds of both steam and battery-electric engines as they travel nearly a quarter of a mile.

Alongside the main rides, model railway fans will be treated to the impressive Gauge 1 display, featuring 45mm trains zipping around a 95-metre (310ft) raised track, believed to be the longest of its kind in the North West.
There will be refreshments and snacks available on-site, with plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the railway.
A Peacock Railway spokesperson told Nub News: "Our Easter open day is always a highlight.
"Whether you 're a dedicated rail enthusiast or just looking for a fun and affordable family day out, there is something magical here for everyone."

The railway is open to the public on the first Sunday of every month, with extra midweek running days planned during August for the summer holidays.
