A section of a major road in Nantwich is now closed until mid-February, allowing a carriageway widening project to take place.

Newcastle Road, between Elwood Way and the railway line, closed on Tuesday 21 January.

It is expected the section of road will reopen again on Saturday 15 February.

Emergency access will be maintained where possible.

The Newcastle Road closure allows a carriageway widening project to take place with a new traffic lighting system (Ryan Parker).

The carriageway widening project includes the laying of a new beany kerb line and additional ducting into the grass verge behind the new kerb line.

The traffic lighting system is also being renewed, with an existing streetlight being relocated due to the widening.

Works are being completed by PHG Contacting. Its emergency contact number is 01254 54308.
