A popular Nantwich town centre sports bar is in the running for a big win in what has been described as 'the pub Oscars'.

GOAT, High Street, has been named a finalist in the 'Best Pub to Watch Sport' category at this year's Great British Pub Awards.

The awards, which run every year, describes itself as 'the ultimate celebration of British pubs'.

For this category, GOAT will be facing off against venues from Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle and Wimborne.

Great British Pub Awards judges have whittled down this shortlist to the very best sports bars "the nation has to offer."

GOAT's' nomination comes 10 months after the venue was launched in August 2025 by Nantwich's Jono Yates and Sam Hulme, with involvement from Sam Rock and Gary Evans.

GOAT is open 12pm to midnight (Monday to Thursday), 11.30am to 2am (Friday and Saturday) and 11.30am to midnight (Sunday) (Photo: GOAT).

Boasting 15 TV screens for sports fans to enjoy all the action, GOAT offers bookable interactive darts and an extensive drinks menu.

GOAT also serves a food menu until 9pm daily, including burgers, chicken wings and tenders, hot dogs and loaded fries.

Jono told Nub News: "It is an incredible honour to be nominated for such prestigious award, just a short time after opening in Nantwich.

"To be in top six UK venues to watch sport, especially being in Nantwich, compared to all the big cities is unreal.

"This just shows GOAT is a premium place to watch football, live sport and enjoy quality food and drinks.

"Being only 10 months in, GOAT has taken off in a way we couldn't have ever predicted.

"Sometimes it can be fairly quiet when walking through Nantwich pubs then you come to GOAT and it is packed, like for England's FIFA World Cup opener versus Croatia, that was a special night.

"GOAT opened to share these moments with football lovers. It felt like we were in a city with the huge amount of England fans coming in to watch. The atmosphere was electric.

"We are so proud of the team for what we have created here. This nomination is a testament to everyone's hard work. This is just the beginning for GOAT."
