A bus service linking Crewe and Nantwich is running every hour from Monday, 28 September, as part of improvements to the local network.

An extra vehicle has been introduced on the 39 service, increasing the daytime frequency from every two hours to hourly.

The service operates from Monday to Saturday and runs between Crewe, Shavington, Hough, Wybunbury, Nantwich and Sainsbury's.

Stops on the route include Crewe Bus Station, Gresty Road, Rail House, Jack Mills Way, Shavington, Wybunbury, Walgherton, Hough, Brine Leas School, Nantwich Bus Station, Malbank and Sainsbury's.

The changes are being delivered through Cheshire East Council's Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) Phase 5 programme.

This hourly service means passengers will have more options for travelling between the two towns, reducing waiting times for those using the 39.

The service is operated by Mikro Coaches, with single bus fares capped at £3 under the current government fare cap.

Cheshire East Council cabinet member for highways and transport, Cllr Mark Goldsmith, said: "These improvements represent another significant investment in Cheshire East's bus network and respond to what residents have told us they need.

"Reliable bus services are essential for helping people get to work, education, healthcare appointments, shops or visit family and friends.

"Therefore, these improvements will help ensure communities in the Crewe, Nantwich and Congleton areas are better connected, especially in the evenings and weekends.

"These enhancements will help make bus travel a practical choice for many residents, which reflects in the growth of our bus network and passenger numbers."
