A Nantwich initiative supporting men's wellbeing is gearing up to celebrate a special milestone this December, as the local 'Men Walking and Talking' group marks its one-year anniversary.

Launched in December 2024, the free weekly walking group has quickly become a positive force in the community, helping men boost both their mental and physical health through friendly conversation and gentle exercise.

Part of a national network of more than 50 groups across the UK, the Nantwich branch was set up by Dave Carter, who ran the Men Walking and Talking group in Sandbach.

The mission is simple: to break down the stigma around men's mental health by offering a relaxed, safe and welcoming space for men aged 18 plus to talk, connect, and support each other.

The concept is refreshingly straightforward, and powerful: Walking side-by-side makes opening up feel easier.

This is not therapy, and there is no pressure, just genuine connection in a friendly atmosphere.

The group meets every Monday at 6:30pm at the Nantwich War Memorial in the town centre.

There is no need to sign up, simply turn up, walk, and talk. It is completely free of charge.

Nantwich walk leader, Steve Marvell, told Nub News: "We are all really proud of how the group has evolved in just a year.

"Every week men from the group turn up regardless of the weather, and we chat about almost anything.

"We also have other social activities planned, such as a 'curry night', as well attending Nantwich Town football games.

"If you have been thinking about coming along, now is the perfect time, and you would be made to feel very welcome."
